Visibility Sensor
The visibility sensor is designed to measure atmospheric visibility, this is achieved by calculating the amount of light that is scattered by particles in the air (dust, smoke, fog, haze, as well as rain and snow) with a standard visibility range of 30 metres to 16 kilometres.

Features In Detail
Details & Advantages
The compact and lightweight design incorporates continuous anti-dew heaters, these help to maintain the optical windows to operate at their potential, and the ‘look down’ design of the sensor reduces window contamination and clogging.
These sensors operate through forward scattering of light. Made in the USA, Environdata has supplied the Sentry Visibility sensor for over 20 years, with amazing longevity in the field.
Typically supplied for roadway monitoring (fog / dust) an intelligent transport systems compatibility such as variable speed sign control. These sensors are also used in tunnels, aviation and marine applications.
Any industry where visibility affects safety is applicable, and combining these visibility sensors with our Weather Maestro weather stations and WeatherMation LIVE data collection system can provide you with early warning of reduced visibility at your sensitive site.
We can also provide Road Weather Monitors suitable to connect to the STREAMS system, and add Visibility sensors when required, just ask us!
Structure
The integrated sensor and cable design allow for all-weather performance. The rugged design incorporates anodized aluminium, and IP66 rated UV resistance fiberglass enclosures, and high quality optical windows. All power and signal lines to the sensors are protected with surge and EMI filtering.
